Coppola's Inglenook to Expand Napa Wine Cellars
Napa Valley’s Inglenook, owned by Francis Ford Coppola, is set to expand its arsenal of stainless steel vats by 122. This expansion will be in time for the 2020 vintage. The winery is home to Coppola’s line of namesake wines.
“The addition of 122 tanks will give each vineyard parcel its own place to develop,” said Philippe Bascaules, Inglenook’s director of winemaking. This will give the makers more control over the wine making process and the overall outcome of the product. This is just one step in Bascaules’ 50 year plan that he showed the Coppola’s, for the rejuvenation of the vineyard, when they began working together in 2011.
Inglenook is celebrating its 140th anniversary in 2019, but Francis Ford Coppola and his wife Eleanor spent more than three decades restoring the estate to its original form after buying their first tranche of its vineyards in 1975. This expansion will continue their mission of ever expanding exploration and experimentation.
