Shipping Wine with NapaCabs
Many people are unsure of the procedure when shipping alcohol. Is it legal? Is it safe? Yes! Shipping alcohol is safe and legal, though there are some restrictions and regulations that must be followed. At NapaCabs, our goal is an easy and efficient shipping experience for all that place online order with us. In order to do this, we keep up to date on all shipping regulations. When regulations change (and they change fairly often) it changes what we can ship and where we can ship it. This usually has to do with the proof, or alcohol content, of the bottle. Many states do not allow beverages above certain proofs to be shipping into their state, which in most cases, leaves only wine available for shipment. Other states do not have such restrictions and do allow spirits—like whiskey, rum, gin, and vodka—to be shipped in. We keep our shipping page up to date, so be sure to check it often to make sure we can ship wine and/or spirits to your state. Processing:
Once you place your order, the processing and shipping period begins. While we do our best to ship out orders on the same day they are placed, there are some situations where this may not be the case. For example, if an item is a special order item or if an item is out of stock, we will have to call that item in from our supplier. This can add a few days to the processing time. If you ordered an etching on your bottle, be prepared to add a day to processing time for this too. In certain cases, we will get in contact with you before shipping your order. These cases may include when a vintage changes for a particular bottle, or if we find an error in any order information. Once your order is processed, it is labelled and shipped out.
Shipping:
Once your order ships, you will receive an email confirming shipment. If your
order is being shipped with GSO, you will also get a tracking number in that
same email. GSO takes care of all our order on the west coast (note: we are only able to ship spirits to GSO states). If your order is
being delivered with a different carrier, you will receive tracking info in a separate
email, as soon as that becomes available. It can take several days after
shipment for tracking to be generate. We use a
number of independent, local carriers that are able to reach certain parts of
the country that larger companies can’t. To track your order you can click here.
Delivery:
Upon delivery, your order does require a signature by someone over the age of
21. This is required by law and is how we make sure minors are not ordering
alcohol online. Because of this, we cannot ship to P.O. boxes or anywhere else
where nobody will be available to sign upon delivery. We also cannot comply
with requests to “leave the package by the garage” or any related directions.
