CELLAR SELECTION
Though fascinating when young, this wine is built for years of evolution in the cellar. Aromas of raspberry soda evolve quickly into anise, peppercorn and mint on the nose. The palate is tense and savory yet still bright with fruit, as a high-acid and firm-tannic grip offer long-term protection. Drink now-2042.
Decanter Magazine Review
Rated 96
Evocative of sauvage tones of wild garrigue and smoky, rich soy sauce, a floral show of desiccated violets and smoky rose petals, this wine is 100% whole cluster from the Perilune Vineyard. The palate flashes smoked sea salt and wild dill alongside fruit-driven notes of dried blood orange and wild red berries. A delightful Syrah that shows whats possible in the varietal in a sub 14% abv. Glorious. Drinking Window 2024-2034.
Ex Post Facto translates to "After the Fact" and encapsulates Winemaker Greg Brewer's desire to deviate from his Brewer-Clifton paradigm to craft a cool-climate Syrah. The 2022 vintage is the first year that Greg sourced this wine entirely from the Perilune Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills region.
Wine Tasting Notes
Soft garnet in color, with delicate fruit notes of plum skin, Asian pear and blueberry cobbler emerging up front. On the palate, intriguing components of pink peppercorn, cocoa powder, charred marshmallow and black olive mingle with impressions of dried rosemary and sage along with genoa salami, peppered jerky and honey ham glaze. The mouthfeel is tender and possesses a subtle streak of fresh acidity that frames the wine's elegant and vibrant finish.
100% Syrah
Alcohol 14.5%
