The Mastrojanni 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Schiena d'Asino (with only 6,000 bottles made) is a joy. This classic 2016 vintage was extremely kind to Sangiovese, but not all producers were able to harness this level of varietal purity, elegance and sheer energy. This soulful wine is indeed best characterized by its inner electricity. The "donkey's back," or Schiena d'Asino, is a special vineyard site where grapes enjoy long sun hours and cool nighttime temperatures. Drink 2024-2044.

The old vines of the vineyard give us the maximum expression of the native Sangiovese, offering us a wine of great personality and tradition where a superb and varied aromatic complexity is inserted on a solid tannic texture, dense and tight, which together with fragrant acidity is guarantee of a superb aging potential. Mastrojanni Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Schiena d'Asino DOCG shows deep red, thick and clear. Ripe red fruit and balsamic Mediterranean scrub. A noble and austere opening, full and savoury, born to stand the test of time.
