Rated 93
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Alpha Special Cuvée contains dashes of Syrah (10%) and Carménère (5%), all from Marchigüe. It was aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, 1/3 of them new. Purple in hue. The nose presents ash and redcurrant notes with hints of candied blueberry against an alluring cedar backdrop. Indulgent and fairly expansive in the mouth. The fine, reactive tannins and juicy flow create a mild structure before the lengthy, fruity finish. A long-lasting, Napa-inspired Cab. Drinking Window 2023-2035.
Wine Tasting Notes
Deep ruby-red in color, with violet tones. The nose is elegant and complex with aromas of very well-blended ripe red and black fruit. Aromas of creme de cassis, tobacco, and black pepper stand out against a backdrop of toast and pastry notes. The palate is smooth but well-structured, which makes this wine a pleasure to drink now, but with years of cellaring potential ahead of it. Its round and near-sweet tannins balance very well with the acidity. Generous volume on the mid-palate of Montes Alpha delivers a lasting and elegant finish.
