Wine Advocate Review
Rated 92
Spicy and quite marked in terms of its aromatic intensity, the Vietti 2021 Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco is a more elaborate expression of the grape that has been softened by oak, spice and well-ripened fruit. It ages in large wood botte for two years. The wine has a velvety quality that helps to coat the palate, and you get a lot of stuffing here in terms of texture and lasting fruit flavors. Fruit not directly used for the Barolo Castiglione goes to this wine instead. Drink 2024-2028.
Wine Tasting Notes
Commonly referred to as a "baby Barolo," Vietti Perbacco Langhe Nebbiolo DOC is exclusively made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes sourced from fifteen different Grand Cru vineyards in Barolo. The winery has recently incorporated a small portion of grapes from its Barbaresco vineyards into the blend. Each vineyard is vinified separately, aged in oak for two years (similar to Barolo), and then carefully selected to showcase the vintage's expression before being blended together.
Perbacco is considered an exceptional value, designed to highlight the full complexity of the region and the Nebbiolo grape variety for both novice and experienced wine enthusiasts.
